Darcy Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 I have a price reduction on this item to $19k on my site. Not often (if ever?) to see Shodai Tadayoshi under $20k. Very beautiful naginata and worth submitting to Juyo (8 of his have passed before). Can accept partial trades. http://nihonto.ca/hizen-tadayoshi-2/ On the Pre-Tokyo hustle to increase the war chest. I have a wicked looking Soshu sunnobi tanto signed by Hasebe Kunishige the 2nd generation (Nanbokucho still), in hitatsura, Tokubetsu Hozon and sayagaki finished. Photo lights revealed some oxidation going on, don't want to say rust, it's coming up white and is not visible in the hand so I think it needs a shiage. Polish is nice as it is sashikomi over the hitatsura and hadori along the hamon. Repolish I would suggest similar if it is to go to Juyo. Because of the polish I can't put it on my site and I am backed up with other polishing projects right now (I bought a bunch of old swords, this was part of what I've figured out to be a hidden cache that came to light). This is $18k and I'll pay for the polish. Questionable area is in the upper right, and lower left just around the habaki. Has a great sugata and nice hamon. Hitatsura is naturalistic instead of the "forced dots" approach. It is the most healthy Hasebe blade I've seen other than the Tokubetsu Juyo daito owned by one of my clients. Sayagaki was done new. Works of the second generation are quite rare as it could be Hasebe Kuninobu after the death of Kunishige, but worth researching more. This is the first time I've seen his work. All of the Nanbokucho Hasebe smiths have Juyo blades and in daito they are all grouped together under a school attribution. This was a new discovery from this year. Needs the polish to go into Juyo. Translation: Hasebe Kunishige This blade bears a goji-mei and is likely a work of the second generation, of Rokurôzaemon. It is from the very end of the Nanbokuchô period and its jihada and hamon are of an excellent construction. Nagasa 26.7 cm.
