Jason Williams Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 Board members, The Seppa on my Nihonto has some chips on the outer surface. The Nihonto is from Edo period, so I guess it is too be expected. I have a couple of questions if someone can help me understand the process. I. Where can I purchase Seppa to replace the old ones? II. What is the process to matching the original Seppa to the replacement Seppa? Thank you, Jason Quote
cuttingedge59 Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 Hi , I have purchased seppa from Fred Lohmans online store. There are three types available , ie edge finish. While they are not copper , they are of good quality and look great when fitted. You will need to file the nakago opening to suit your swords nakago, the easy process is to match mark your old seppa. laowho Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 Hi Jason, Yes, there's Lohmans and also nihonzashi where you can custom fit/order http://www.nihonzashi.com/custom_seppa.aspx We're making our own from nickel silver plate because we wanted to, but haven't figured out the edge work yet.
