Barrie B Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 Hi all, Once again I am hoping someone here can explain this to me.. It is an empty fittings box that looks to have housed F/K and menuki, at one time… Too nice a box to pass up.. I may recycle..? Any insight would be appreciated. Additionally, does anyone recognise the seal or Kao? Thanks in advance.. Barrie B. Quote
cabowen Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 Futakoromono (set of two items) (menuki and fuchi-gashira perhaps?) My guess is the box lid says in part that they are done in shakudo with takabori, unsigned, attributed to Yanagawa school. Dated 1966...Appraiser is Kanzan Sato sensei. Quote

tom Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Its correct, but here again. Hakogaki outside of the Box. Kacho Futadokoro mono ( set of flower and bird ) Hakogaki inside the box. Shakudo nanako ji Tagabori iroe fuchikashira ( Shakudo nanako plate high graved colored Fuchikashira.) Shakudo sugatabori Menuki Mumei Yanagawa ha. ( Shakudo formed grave Menuki no signature Yanagawa school ) Showa hinoe uma haru Kanzan kao. Showa 41 nen spring, Kanzan Kao. Tom Quote
Barrie B Posted September 4, 2014 Author Report Posted September 4, 2014 Tom, Wow..! Very many thanks. Its such a nice box, seems like a real pity that it was separated from the 'said' contents… maybe they were used for a koshirae.. who knows? Thanks to Guido and Chris as well.. I (we all, I am sure) really appreciate everyones assistance here. Barrie. Quote
