toukerb Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 I would be most grateful if any of the knowledgeable members of the board might help me identify the tanzaku mei attached to this post. It is on the back of my first menuki purchase, and I have no idea what it might correspond to. Many thanks, in advance, for any ideas on the subject, Marc Quote
mywei Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 could be Hamano school? A tosogu expert can probably confirm. Quote
toukerb Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 Thanks for your input Matt. The Hamano school + Naochika would suggest Naochika Hamano, but his work seems quite different than my menuki (below), based upon the few pieces I've come across (I am a complete ignoramus in this area). I'm also rather puzzled by what seems to be a mon on the dragon. My research has only come up with an association of that particular form of Umebachi with the Gojoten Jinja temple in Tokyo. (The usual form of the Umebachi mon has a smaller circle in the center than the outer ones). Many thanks all the same! Marc Quote
