dilligaf12 Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 G/day all I recently posted this on the general discussion board which was of great help, I also posted a photo of some miniature writing I found on this piece but have not yet got a reply and I am just wondering if maybe someone on this board may help with it. Hopefully it may tell who carved it or some light on the story of the carvings or may just be something they did to make it look good any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Vaughn Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Good morning Vaughn, I think image 3 is upside down and 2 needs flipping 90 degrees. You may get a better response if you could flip them and down size them so that they show as a picture not a link. (My 2 sen is that it is not a signature but a pastiche of a makimono hand scroll with an edict which often begins with "Hitotsu" which is a kind of emphasis and means something like "One thing" or "Point", the statement then follows. A modern example would be the Dojo Kun which many Budoka recite before or after training. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dojo_kun Here's an example in Kanji: http://www.iskf.com/dojo%20kun.html Cheers Quote
dilligaf12 Posted July 10, 2013 Author Report Posted July 10, 2013 Sorry for the slow reply Malcolm, internet issues. Thank you for the information and I will downsize and try my best to show them the right way up in future. Thanks again Vaughn Quote
