When you see the color of the signature (especially the bottom of signature), it looks more similar to color of newer rust. What do you think ? Quote

Yes, the tang was obviously altered, the bottom is lower thin side is filed extensively, although the picture does not show from above and under, but the signature looks to be as old as the tang, the kanji is pierced with the first tang hole and only around the hole and above looks cleaner than the older patina. Darker spots are the original patine. The blade looks good though. Quote
