max_levy Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Hi there, I am quite a novice and have come across a signed Katana. I've only managed to get a relatively poor image of the Mei which is two character. I apologise in advance for the little informaiton provided but any help in translation would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Max Quote
max_levy Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 That was quick and looks right! Thanks a lot! Quote
Veli Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 That specific Yoshi-kanji in "Muneyoshi" was only used by Harima province Muneyoshi lineage of smiths. Shinto to Shinshinto. Veli Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Do you have photos of the blade? I'm not necessarily disagreeing and with no references, it's impossible for me to provide more than an educated guess, but the yasirime sure look newer than Shinto or shinshinto. Quote
Jiro49 Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Ok so if the yasurimei is fresh and since there are 2 mekugiana, do smiths re-dress the nakago to that degree after suriage or machi-okure? Just curious.. Thanks! Quote
