Hi everyone, While researching what these small holes where used for, I found this discussion and would like to share an interesting feature of my latest tsuba. The holes are integrated into the design as an "opening" for the river to flow from the back of the tsuba to the front. The interesting part is that one of the holes is "hidden" behind a rock. It is carved sideways (don't know how to describe it), which must have been extremely tedious. So whatever these holes were used for, it must have been important to warrant this amount of work...

I've actually been watching this one for a while

This is exactly my problem... I am looking for a wide mihaba papered sword with interesting sugata in good polish and maybe koshirae. At this pricepoint my options are very limited. It is either something like this (less desireable school, mumei) or some interesting shinshinto if I'm lucky.

Hello everyone, I am very tempted by a sword that has come up for auction at Aoi: https://www.aoijapan.com/katana-mumeiunsignedtakada-schoolnbthk-hozon-token/ It is quite large and the sugata is a 10/10 for me. It also shows some nice activity in the hada. However it seems to have some quite large kitae-ware... especially in the carved part of the shinogi-ji. As I am still a bit new to this hobby, I have difficulties to estimate the impact these flaws have on 'desireability' and if this would bother me in the future. I would love to hear your opinion on flaws like these and if they would be a no-go or can be easily overlooked. also would a blade like this be considered 'tsukare'? thank you, Max

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share this easy option for displaying your tsuba on your desk. I got these acrylic glass light boxes for about 15 Euro on amazon and I think they make a pretty neat display. I would love to see how you display your tosogu!

Hello Hector, probably a reseller scheme like all of those yahoo auction resellers on ebay. Once you purchase the item on eBay, they will themselves buy it from the real dealer and reap in the difference. Very common with Japanese ebay stores. If you see a listing that you like, you can often reverse image search to find the original listing. I did not know they expanded to actual physical stores so thanks for sharing.
