A friend is going to look at this blade tomorrow. Sorry these are only pictures from the seller. Sounds like maybe not in great shape and rest of the mountings are missing. Wondering if from the markings anyone can give me any more info on the blade - when it was made perhaps?

I know it’s not directly sword related but thought y’all may have some insights. Friend of mine got this a lot at local auction. I’m leaning toward repro given the kind of rough casting at the edges and I haven’t found original examples that are numbered like this. what do you think, real? Repro?

I am a new member but have been reading and learning from this forum for a while. I have been collecting Japanese firearms for a while and more recently Japanese militaria and swords. I am thinking of working on how I display these items and am considering building an nco manikin. I know type 95 swords were issued to NCOs but at what rank would one be issued a sword? Lowly corporals? sergeants? I ask because I have an opportunity to buy a sergeant uniform shirt and pants but would only get it if it makes sense as part of a display along with my shin gunto…
