Dear all
First timer in the discussion board. Would be extremely for any advice on a tanto I own.
It has a nijimei reading Iyetsugu. The nagasa is just over 20cm. The nakago is very thin and long without a lot of meat. The sword looks quite old.
Has anyone got any idea firtsly as to whether it is gimei or not, secondly if it is chu-aoe or older and thirdly which generation Iyetsugu this is. Has anyone got any oshigata of this smith. I am struggling to find one.
One last thing, the tanto comes with a very nice and elaborate koshirae with the attached inscription. I think it mentions uma (date) but cannot reade the whole thing.
Many thanks for any advice
George
