  1. Thanks for the help piers. I had the number 5 on my notes but I had it as the fifth month.im not sure it is a woodblock it looks a bit to crisp and sharp but it is listed as one .Elly Kawaguchi has some you tube videos I've had a quick look at her art it could be her.i though it was a modern piece by a younger artist and she fits that profile perfectly.im going to watch the rest of her stuff on YouTube and see if she's done many kio carp pictures.thanks again piers .I will keep you posted

  4. Thanks for all that information I was familiar with the name change story but I didn't have all the dates.it seems the deeper I go the better it gets and I can't help feeling the more unlikely.

Hi I won this at a auction a few weeks ago the auction house could not remove the handle and suspected it was glued on (it wasn't) and it came off fairly easy.i spent a couple of evenings working out the signature saka Kura echigo no kami terukane and bugyotsuji kindly translated the date as 1684 apparently the date fits when this signature would have been used I know some of you here have done this one before I've read all the posts.i would love to know what you guys think.i apologise for the poor photos I must have taken over 90 photo's the last 3days and there all bad.heres some measurements. Nagasa 46.3 cm. Sori 1.2cm. Moto hada 3.5cm. Saki hada 2.7cm. Moto kasane 6.5mm. Saki kasane 5.5mm. Kissaki 7.2cm. Nakago 16.6cm

    Sorry Jon I have no information on it whatsoever.ive never spent so long researching something and got so little information.i quite like the temple offering idea there is a video on YouTube where a smith makes a blade for a Shinto temple and it's the same shape as the roof but I struggle with the idea of waki sized blades as temple offerings in the video it was a big blade tachi size.thanks paul.sorry for my confusion I didn't realise the first picture is also my sword and your picture's are correct

  13. Yes I think they look better with the boarders.i had to buy a proper mount cutter I was trying to cut them free hand I can do singles but three is a bit much

I've been framing a few woodblock prints lately and with the information I get when I buy them I can normally research the subject matter and the artists.i have this print and i cannot find anything about it im thinking my information could be wrong.i would appreciate any help with this castle under siege akido is all ive got theres writing on the back that ive not seen on any others thanks paul
