    Which auction house were you dealing with Mark? Morphy tells me they can’t insure the shipment unless they pack it.

    First off, apologies if this is not the right part of the board for this. For those of you who have shipped high value objects to auction houses, how did you insure your shipment? I understand declared value through FedEx or UPS is not the way to go, and a traditional “all risk” insurance is preferable. If you have done this in the past, I would like to know who you used.     This is precisely why I am reluctant to send it to Japan. This fear may be unfounded, but I can see a host of problems that could come up. also, is it possible to go back and edit my postings? Seems to be an option on this one, but on older ones it is not an option.

    Thank you. I am entertaining different ideas for research. Might be a trip to a sword show. Might be shipping it to Japan. I just don’t know yet. In the end I would probably be just as happy with an appraisal from a competent professional here in the states.

    The blade is not for sale. I am totally ignorant on the subject. At this point, I want to find out what I have and what its potential value could be. In the event I wanted to send it to Japan for evaluation, what is the procedure? And what would be the advantage to doing that?

    Yes. That gentleman did examine pictures which were submitted by my attorney some time back. I would now like input from the group.

    No papering unfortunately. The inlay material appears gold in person if this matters. It does look silver in the picture.

    I will try to get additional pictures posted. I have a very good, and relatively short video but I’m not sure I would ever get the video posted here. This blade has an overall length of 34.5 inches and a cutting surface length of 28 inches. It is bright and shiny.

    It’s terrible to be totally computer illiterate. I was just about to give up, and then miraculously at least some of the content that I was trying to upload seems to have posted.
