Thanks for the quick ID and responses! That is really helpful.

I moved recently, and when going through boxes I found these two old swords that my Grandmother gave to me years ago. At the time, she told me a US soldier stationed in the Pacific sent them to her during WWII (sounds like there are lots of family stories like this!); they do not appear to be traditional Japanese military swords that most folks collect, from what I can tell at least, but I would be interested and grateful to know what they are. I came across this forum when searching, and I was hoping someone here might know. Thanks so much for any info you all might have, and I hope this finds you having a good weekend.
