Hello Forum,
I have a question, and I don't even know how to start A seller here has a curious piece i am interested im. It is some kind of tanto, in Aikuchi, but I have never seen a blade like that. It is very low built, one side is flat, with file marks, the other has huge and beautiful hamon, so almost a katakiriba-zukuri, but like I said, one side has old filemarks. The blade itself is elegant, almost small, but not a kogatana! It is much larger, has a different shape, and has the tiniest little habaki I have ever seen (maybe half the height of the koshirae). The tang has mei on both sides, and the whole thing is just gorgeous. I do not have pictures, and it will be a few days before I can see it again, so I thought I will try it here.
The seller simply called it "Aikuchi Tanto" which does not help much. But he said it is extremely rare and I have not found a single picture in any book or on the internet until now.
Does it ring a bell to someone?
thanks,
