  1. Hi I have been told that the style is associated with Satsuma swords/koshirae. I don't know wthat its true 100% of the time but I thought it was worth sharing.
  2. The model/living manikin dude looks oooooh soooo happy, don't he?
  3. Hi again Milt- see Choshuya mag- September issue- Item #15 page 24 (can also been seen online if you're a member for sililar work by the Ichigo school Kirk
  4. Hi Milt In my experience this is just another type of copper alloy that gets a different pickling.
  5. Hi everyone I am looking for advice on which of the many sword organizations are worth joining. I know that it is a subjective sort of judgment but with the many groups- all with dues- I cannot afford to join them all. Along with your reccomendation, please let me know what the benefits (publications, shinsa benefits, other assistance) that come with membership. I know of the NBTHK, NTHK (2 branchs), NCJSC, JSSUS, Florida Token Kai and if there are others I would love to hear about them all. Thanks Much! Kirk
  6. Thanks Rich Do you think the singature might be valid?
  7. Hi Rich Kanji are 秀 壽 for Hide Toshi cannot find the Izumi one I thought I did post an image but will do so again
  8. Hi Rich How do I supply the kanji? I don't know that I have the software avilable or at least not installed to do it? Am on a Windows XPSP2 running MS Office. Thanks
  9. Hi all- Looking for help translating the signature on this FK My best reading is Izumi Hide Toshi w/Kao I am very confident in the Izumi and the Hide but not so sure about the Toshi. He is in Haynes H 01184.0- vol 1, p 259 Plate references are in Wakayama Vol 1 p 43 and Shinsen Kino Meikan p. 31 The problem is is that there is NO similarity between my piece and the plates. If anyone can come up with an alternative reading that would not be a blatant gimei, I would love to know. Thanks!
  10. Hi Milt The show was only moderately attended- some dealers- a few with many things- some with just a few. I myself did not witness a great deal of commerce. The Shinsa was tough (at least on me) I went 4 for 10 and one of the papers (on a mumei katana) gave an attribution that was quite dissapointing. I saw one yagyu tsuba on Cyrus' (Rymuado) table- it is on thier site as well. BTW- a while back (2 months or so) I got a set of boar menuki signed by a Kyo goto smith- you were very helpful in helping me translate it- thanks! Unfortunately they bounced- Ce la vie. Local was nice- hotel was quite nice. Weather- ot surprisingly was less than accomdating. Best to all Kirk
