Yes ware not hagire,  I  confused my terms.  

    Looking for feedback on a tanto I recently purchased, with my limited expertise it does appear to be authentic.  The tang is signed Norimitsu, with no other markings.  I found a lot of swordsmiths listed for this name, is there a way to discern between them by the chisel marks?  I ask because the bottom left chisel mark is longer than any of the examples show.   10 3/4 cutting edge, some thinning in the center near a hagire, otherwise sound.

   Easier said than done, as this blade has been abused by abrasives.  But here are some better photos.

  It looks homogenous, just more heavily rusted in the center of the tang bow.

Thanks all.  Some additional info and photos.  Nagasa 25.25",  sori .750" , both taken to original munamachi marked with mini-sword in photos.  Yes, by the way the hamon washes of the kissaki I would guess this was originally around 26" nagasa.  What I find peculiar is the tang has a slight reverse radius or bend.

   I am looking for a reputable appraiser in New York state to evaluate my recent purchase, if any one can steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it.  This was listed at auction as a 14th century sword.  I am not experienced enough yet to determine this.  At first glance I do not see any visible kanji, but under the correct lighting I see what appear to be the remains of chisel marks on the outside of the tang if worn with edge down on left hip.  I do not discern any chisel marks on the opposite side.

Here are some magnified, different angle and light source photos.  Yes, what looks like a crack is actually a slight impression over the stamp.  While viewing this for the photos I thought I recognized a clenched fist.  (Tip is top orientation)

I am hoping to identify the origin of this stainless steel Kai Gunto, any help would be greatly appreciated.  The tang has only one stamp which I cannot find illustrated anywhere, the number 702 painted on which some other characters in black.  The stamp under magnification does not appear to be a seki stamp.

That's OK because this is not a kanteisho, but  a 1959 kicho nbthk?  I also have an NBTHK with out punched numbers, but it is valid none the less.   

Jussi, I commend your translating abilities, they are way above mine.  As an worker in the metal industry all my life, my second language is drawing interpretation, third being some Espanol.  Just so my head is straight how do I pronounce your name in US English?

Steve M, thanks your getting me excited now.  The scratch off from wakizashi to katana appears to be in the original appraiser ink. This was sold as a 1500 era blade, glad to see it might just be!  It does have a few minor problems:  very slightly out of straight at the photo of the fukuri, with a few nicks on the mune.  I also attached a photo of the nakago for review.  The owner at the 1959 time of appraisal was Mr. Hashimoto Kisaku, who may be the founder of Nomura Holdings.

     I had the rest of this Kicho paper translated a while ago, and am just getting around to what could not be translated originally.  Someone penciled in something in parentheses below the signature is what I need translated.  I understand this is the area NBTHK appraiser would add notes.  Would they have used pencil or is this an additional note by some previous caretaker?

Hello all, brand new member.  I recently purchased a wakizashi which has bonji on both sides, and am looking for a translation.   The blade has a Hozon paper, 1670 era Shigetsune signature.  I believe I have found the translation for the one side but am having trouble with the other.  

Sanskrit 2:  May be slightly polished off, states" Eradication of evil from mens hearts"?

Sanskrit 1:  Cannot find a translation
