  1. Thanks John . Yes I knew Col. Hartley he was a contemporary of both of my teachers.I used to enjoy my visits with him at various sword shows and he was a wealth if information he will be missed. Nathan
  2. Oyabun : Dont I wish.... After the Houston Token Kai went belly up some of us formed a small study group which was well attended and loved, but we were kind of shy about taking on new members ( greasey french fry covered fingers on freshly polished swords). I am looking for the same in Dallas but I have my doubts..
  3. Hello to all: Just having moved to Dallas Texas from Houston I am missing my sword study group;(tho I plan to rejoin them from time to time). I was wondering.... Are there or is there anyone in the DFW area who is a serious collector? I have asked around at Jackson Armory which occaisionally sells a sword or two and at the Barbier-Mueller museum (nice collection of armor btw) but no one knows of any groups in Dallas. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Nathan
  4. Mr Garza: There used to be, however it seems to have died out . All the Texas sword clubs seem to have gone away (which really does suck). However, there are many collectors in Texas and hopefully one or more of us can help you. Respects Nathan
  5. Curtis: I had no idea just how cobbled together it was (LOL). Please keep us posted - I would love to see the blade in full polish !! Respects Nathan
  6. Curtis: Lovely blade ! By all means have a shira saya made for it,but try to save the original mounts and saya. Keep in mind a sword during its lifetime can be and often was remounted many times . In my opinion as long as you can salvage tsuba ,fuchi ,kashira and whatever other parts then do so. There is nothing nicer than having a freshly polished blade in shira saya and a functional set of mounts as well. Respects Nathan Young
  7. Mr. Garza: I would pass on this one---there are better ones out there and for less money ! Respects: Nathan Young
