  8. FS Signed Dated Tanto by Gassan Sadakatsu Tanto w/ Hozon paper in Aikuchi Koshirae Signature: Osaka Ju Gassan Sadakatsu Kinsaku Dated: Kouki 2603 Nen 11 Gatsu Kichijitsu (1943 November lucky day) Made within one month of his death. Boshi: round Gassan Sadakatsu was born in 1869 as the second son of the famous First Gassan Sadakazu. Sadakatsu was an exceptionally skilled swordsmith working in the various styles of Gassan, Soshu, Bizen and Yamato. While working under his father Sadakatsu forged only a few swords inscribed with own name, though this changed in the late Taisho era following his father's death. Sadakatsu put all his energies into making his own swords after this working as a purveyor to the Imperial Household, making swords dedicated to the Ise-jingu shrine and accepting orders from dignitaries. He trained two historically important smiths, his real son the Second Gassan Sadakazu, and his pupil Takahashi Sadatsugu. Both went on to be designated as the earliest Preservers of Important Intangible Cultural Assets, ie. Living National Treasures. Sadakatsu passed away in 1943 at 74 years old. This tanto is likely a shoe-in for Tokubetsu Hozon papers should the new owner wish to submit. Asking $5300 for this. I never turn down reasonable offers. Express shipping in USA is included. Priority international shipping will be calculated by your location. Cheers!
  9. 1050$ Open to offers Anyone who has worked with me in the past knows I never refuse a reasonable offer. 🙂
  10. Available here is this exceptional example of a Yamato Utsubo from the Edo period. Highly decorative with black lacquered wood, the central waist part with a lacquered leather band and the removable cover at the bottom held in place by faded wickerwork. The traditional open ebira-type quiver was worn on the back with the arrowheads pointing down and the arrows and pins clearly visible. The otsubo type is said to have been developed to hide the number of arrows being held from an enemy. They were carried on the back with the arrow flights on an internal bamboo raft. Lacquered examples of such luxurious pieces are known as Yamato utsubo as opposed to leather-covered and woven rattan examples. More ornate versions of these have sold at over $8000 via Christies in the past, making this lovely example a very reasonable deal. This one was sourced to me from a European collector/merchant. Asking $1175 US (OBO) for this. Paypal payment is preferred. Priority shipping in USA is covered by me. International shipping will be calculated. Cheers!

  14. I'm the owner of this blade and the new price (pending site update) will be 13,000$ http://www.nihonto.us/NOBUKUNI KATANA MORI.htm Note, the hozon paper was lost by the previous owner, but can be re-issued if sent back to Japan. Phenomenal blade... Juyo quality if only the rules were different for shinsa. Will consider trade up to 4000$ of the deal if a trade Cheers! John
