  1. Anyone know what this is or says?
  2. Has anyone received their papers from the Tampa Shinsa yet? Howard Dennis
  3. Thanks John, been using it since 1985 and haven't harmed a blade yet, used carefully it can't do anything but help this blade. Howard Dennis
  4. Since this sword has been neglected since it left Japan I'm finding clove oil and uchiko are making a big difference everytime I clean it and more details are showing up each time. It's rewarding to see the blade respond and come back to life. Howard Dennis
  5. The menuki show two cranes on a nanako panel with grasses. Blade needs a polish and would survive it just fine but after scoring 70 points out of polish I think I'll leave that to the next owner and just enjoy it as is. Howard Dennis
  6. Doug, Here's the menuki. The sword cost them $100.00! and me $685.00. John, they attributed it to the fifth generation who worked from 1751-1764. Howard Dennis
  7. Thanks I did everything just as I always do and it just won't work here so I may just send to Brian. Funny you should mention the price. I've always thought these guys sell a little low just so the seller won't be too upset and sell in the future. In my case what was quoted on screen rose over $400.00 when I went to buy it, still happy though. Howard Dennis
  8. I tried posting pictures but nothing happened, twice! The reason I called it my "American Pickers" sword was because it was on the December 19th 2011 episode of that show and I tracked down Frank Fritz and purchased the sword from him a week before the Tampa Shinsa. Howard Dennis
  9. Thanks John, I'll keep trying after an encouraging outcome like this! Howard Dennis
  10. Just wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank Gordon Robson and Tom Helm for helping me get my "American Pickers" sword through the Tampa Shinsa. What an amazing experience to have the koshirae paper to Mino Ju Mitsunaka and then have it's out of polish blade get an attribution to swordsmith Darani Katsukuni! Great fun indeed. Thank You, Howard Dennis
