  1. Hi, thanks lads for the fast reply and for the help with this. Cheers, Kai :D
  2. Hi folks, any help on the translation would be of great help. I have been told it is from the 17th century? Cheers, Kai
  3. Hi, thank you very much for the feedback, my father will be very happy with this info on his sword and will give the foundation for further research. Cheers, Kai
  4. Hi, this is my fathers sword and it was a Scottish Veterans bring back from WW2. It has shin gunto mounts that are in rather poor condition but it has a very nice copper Habaki that may be old. The blade has some very small chips on the cutting edge but has no Hagire that I can see. The blade looks like its in very old polish and it could do with a new one. The hamon is quite hard to make out but looks like Suguha, Notare temper line. The sword is approx 34 3/4 inch long and the cutting edge is approx 27 inch long. Any help will be much appreciated as my father has had this sword for many years and would love to know more about it. The sword is very nice and am I right in thinking this is a Tachi ? Cheers, Kai P.S. sorry for the poor pictures, I am terrible at taking pictures of swords
  5. Hello, thanks to everyone who has gave me feedback on this. I have to study allot more into these swords as it is obvious I know hardly anything about this world of collecting. Cheers, Kai
  6. Hi again Brian, I over looked what you said here regarding: It is o-suriage, which is ok in a Koto, but not something preferred. I just googled o-suriage, does that mean this sword I am looking at has been cut down in shape and size? If this is the case how do you tell if a sword has been cut down in size by looking at it? Cheers, Kai
  7. Hi Brian, I was only asking for some opinions while I wait for info regarding the sword from the seller. I did not mean to put anyone on the spot over this and I thank you for your input. I know the seller is a member here and I did not post this to cause any problems, I am new to collecting Japanese swords. Cheers, Kai
  8. Hi, I am in the process of buying this CLASSIC YAMATO TEGAI SCHOOL WAKIZASHI and have the piece on hold at the moment waiting for some more information on it. What do you guys think about this piece, any opinions would be great. Cheers, Kai http://new.uniquejapan.com/a-classic-ya ... com=Swords
  9. Hi lads, thanks for all your help with this, I have now moved this sword on today to a friend as I am really wanting an old sword made in the traditional way. I have my eye on a Tachi sword that I have been told is old? I will try and get a picture of the nakago before I purchase it to show you guys! Cheers, Kai :D
  10. Hi John, thank you for all your help on this. The Saya is very nice on this sword, not too sure why a WW2 sword would have such a nice saya? The sharpened part of the blade is approx 24 1/2 inches. I can get you some more pictures of the saya and sword later in the week for you all to have a wee look at. A thats good that I payed an ok price for it! :D Kai P.S. what kind of pictures are you wanting to see, close ups of mounts etc?
  11. Hi, thank you very much for all your help on this. The sword has a very nice shark skin scabbard and the blade is in very good conition with just a few tiny chips. I was told when I purchased this sword that it would have been used by a Japanese pilot, I think this is wrong though? Is this just a common sword with low value? I payed £750 for this sword, was I ripped off? Cheers, Kai
  12. Hi, thanks very much for the help with this. What year was it made and where, I am brand new to this and I need all the help I can get so I can learn. Cheers, Kai
