Returned home last night exhausted and have slept most of today....

I want to thank everyone who attended or contributed in some way...Too many to list here, but you know who you are...Without the participation and help from so many we could never have accomplished so much....

The shinsa, by all accounts, was a tremendous success. The shinsa team commented to me afterward that they were genuinely surprised by the high level of items that were submitted in comparison to previous events. They concluded with pleasure that the level of knowledge in the US collector community has taken a step or two upward. This was very gratifying to hear. There were some very nice items submitted.

The showroom was a bit of a disappointment to me as I expected a greater walk in crowd. Having several major sports events take place over the weekend and the failure of the media to cover the event (as promised) no doubt contributed to the small turn out. Many of the dealers I spoke with said they sold well and I heard no complaints, so perhaps things went better than I thought...

The extra demos and lectures were a big success as I had many people approach me to express their gratitude and enjoyment. I personally thought all the people who demoed did an outstanding job. The kyudo and iai were crowd favorites. Many wives thanked me for having the ikebana as it gave them something interesting to do....The arrangements were spectacular....

As expected, I failed to receive any submissions for the polishing exhibit. I did however take the time to show the shinsa team 5-6 swords that were sent in with fresh amateur polishes, and a few with fresh Japanese polish, and asked them which were which and what they thought.....They picked out the amateur polishes correctly and while they tried to be charitable in their comments, their message was clear: don't give good blades to bad polishers......

It was fantastic to meet many of you from this board for the first time. While stressed and busy, I did enjoy myself greatly and appreciate all the positive feedback we have received.

Another one in the books.....Again, hope all that attended had a good time and went away with more knowledge than they came with.....

To all those that sent me items for shinsa, I will be getting with all of you tomorrow with the results....
