Jūyō Tōken — Nidai Echizen Yasutsugu Katana An exceptional katana by the second generation Echizen Yasutsugu, bearing the prestigious Tokugawa Aoi mon on the nakago and displaying workmanship remarkably close to that of the Shodai. The blade features beautifully visible itame mixed with mokume, thick ji nie and chikei, while the notare and gunome hamon is extraordinarily active with abundant kinsuji and sunagashi appearing throughout. The vivid hakikake bōshi provides a particularly striking finish. The NBTHK Jūyō Tōken Zufu specifically praises this sword as a magnificent example among the works of the Nidai and notes its close resemblance to the workmanship of the Shodai.
