Guess that was aimed at me. Oh well.

Not at all!

I was just adding village idiots for humorous effect (and obviously failing miserably). Apologies for any confusion!

I did a search on Jacques' past comments (spanning many years) and now I get it.

There's always an outstandingly trollish troll on every board and forum, just like there's always an outstandingly idiotic idiot in every village.

Neither are worth interacting with.

Censors, if you can't be smart, at least try to be fair

Typical of someone who doesn't understand what knowledge is.

Another insult as expected. Keep them coming Jacques….they say more about you than me.

Why don’t you just answer my reasonable question?

For once you have said something that just about everyone on this Forum would be interested in…….why do you think collecting is a bit silly?

The Japanese can do whatever they want; what interests me is art, not militaria (I might as well collect spoons).

When I was a child (circa 1983), there was a promotion by the Kellogg's cereal company involving spoons made by the National Stainless company of Japan.  Now these were no ordinary spoons, they were the greatest spoons ever made.  The perfect size, the perfect shape, the perfect weight, sturdy enough to eat ice cream straight out of the carton.  Even Masamune would have cried out "God damn, these are some great spoons!!," ate his rice with a spoon henceforth, and changed his profession to spoon making, had such a spoon ever graced his sooty hands.  Later in life, I hunted them on eBay, I now have a drawer full of them.  So I guess I collect spoons.  If my home ever catches fire, there might be a brief pause as to which I save first, my Kellogg's spoon collection, or my Nihonto.

Regrettably, this auction is closed.  https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/kelloggs-spoons-set-4-incl-corny-crow-1983
