JPGH Posted Monday at 01:54 AM Report Posted Monday at 01:54 AM Hi everyone, Any thoughts on age, origin and what this object may be? Sword/Knife fitting of some sort? It's made of white-brass(?) with blue enamel and decorated with an engraved bird and peaches(?). Size is approx: 2-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches. Thank you all for your time and help! Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted Monday at 06:20 AM Report Posted Monday at 06:20 AM Looks like a belt clip, Meiji perhaps? Quote
John C Posted Monday at 01:58 PM Report Posted Monday at 01:58 PM My thoughts as well. Some type of belt or strap clip. John C. Quote
EricMajo Posted Tuesday at 10:52 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 10:52 AM The execution looks fairly modest quality-wise in my opinion, which points more toward a late-Meiji Taisho piece than anything earlier. Quote
The Blacksmith Posted Tuesday at 11:47 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 11:47 AM I agree a belt fitting, but it doesn't look remotely Japanese to me, either in its design, or workmanship. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted Tuesday at 04:27 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:27 PM Not Japanese in my opinion, and not necessarily related to swords or knives. 1 Quote
