JPGH Posted August 10 Report Posted August 10 Hi everyone, Any thoughts on age, origin and what this object may be? Sword/Knife fitting of some sort? It's made of white-brass(?) with blue enamel and decorated with an engraved bird and peaches(?). Size is approx: 2-1/2 x 1-1/2 inches. Thank you all for your time and help! Quote
John C Posted August 10 Report Posted August 10 My thoughts as well. Some type of belt or strap clip. John C. Quote
EricMajo Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 The execution looks fairly modest quality-wise in my opinion, which points more toward a late-Meiji Taisho piece than anything earlier. Quote
The Blacksmith Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 I agree a belt fitting, but it doesn't look remotely Japanese to me, either in its design, or workmanship. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 Not Japanese in my opinion, and not necessarily related to swords or knives. 1 Quote
