Silver plates? What for?

Can someone help me in identifying these two plates ? What are their usage (décoration, parts of an other object ?)

Did you see similar objects by the past ?

Two high quality plates from a fine Japanese bracelet…..eg…..

….almost certainly made by the late Edo artists that made the plates for kagamibuta netsuke and who survived the transition into Meiji, using their skills to satisfy the new customer base….Gaijin.

Thank you Colin for this information. The plates are 2cm high, therefore they can be a part of a bracelet. 

 

The two plates show différent People in a boat. A Japanese legend probably.

The subjects used for this type of luxury (and very expensive) jewellery was more along the lines of “enjoying  life in Japan”……people engaged in assorted merry-making pursuits and generally having fun. The more obscure legends would maybe not have appealed so much to their new customer base.
