sakura_matsuri_antiques Posted June 21 Report Posted June 21 (edited) Between old and new papers is easy get a little lost. I've read a few posts here and there and came to the conclusion that some chronological order might help. Hope you guys find it useful. - In 1948 the NBTHK is created along with a 2 certificates system, Kicho Ninteisho and Tokubetsu Kicho Ninteisho - The system is in place from 1948 to 1958 - In 1958 the new Juyo certificate is introduced - This now 3 certificates system, Kicho, Tokubetsu Kicho and Juyo lasts from 1958 to 1973 - In 1973 the new Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho Ninteisho is introduced creating a 4 certicates evaluation system. The new Koshu is above Tokubetsu and below Juyo - Between the 1970s and 1980s regional NBTHK branch offices were accused of issuing fraudulent or highly inflated certificates - In 1982 the NBTHK decides to scrape the old system (keeping only the Juyo certificate) in favor of the new Hozon one - From 1982 the system relies only on Hozon, Tokubetsu Hozon and Juyo Some side notes: 1. The old Kicho system is viewed today as unreliable but papers issued by the main branch in the 50s and 60s can still be considered pretty trustworthy 2. The period that goes from 1958 to 1973 is the only one, in terms of evaluation, that can be compared to the modern Hozon system being both based on a 3 certificates system Edited June 21 by sakura_matsuri_antiques 1 1 Quote
YourBabyBjornBorg Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Also, I think Tokubetsu Juyo was introduced in 1971, the same year as the 20th Juyo! Quote
