Joe G Posted Wednesday at 01:10 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:10 PM I inherited this set from my mother who acquired them in Japan when my father was in the Korean War and would like to find out more about them, any resource suggestions or knowledge about them? Thank you! Quote
Jesta Posted Thursday at 03:46 AM Report Posted Thursday at 03:46 AM Hi Joe I think that you will need to post better, and more photos. Can I suggest taking them out of the box, doing closeups of the front and back with particular reference to the decorative parts? You should make sure that they are as sharp and clear as possible. GreyVR Posted Thursday at 05:24 AM Report Posted Thursday at 05:24 AM This is your first post, so on the off chance you only want to know 'what the heck that is' they are tools that fit in the sides of a sword scabbard, one is a 'utility knife' and the other is a grooming tool. Kozuka/kogatana and kogai. Because it's black and gold, I 'think' that is goto style, or trying to be, but I'm a noob myself, so someone else is welcome to correct me. Almost certainly Edo or later, because that style was (I think) mandated by the authorities for something like 'anyone important coming to do important business' for a little while, (but again I'm a noob.)
