On offer today is a fabulous tea bowl that is bursting with energy. 

 

Matsumura Sen has devoted his career to the pursuit of Ki Seto after being amazed by a Momoyama period example, and that passion is wholly evident in his firings. 

 

Featuring a perfect glaze that is neither too glossy or too matte and has the deep, vibrant color you hope for when opening the kiln. The incised design of grasses and plants are effortlessly rendered and help create a totally carefree and whimsical feeling. 

 

Purchased brand new by myself from a gallery in Japan where the artist was holding an exhibition. Measures approximately 12.5cm wide and comes with its original box, cloth and paperwork.
