Gerry Posted June 6 Report Posted June 6 I've seen Aoi and Nipponto reference this gendai smith Hizen koku Yoshihiro as a mukansa smith, but I can't find him anywhere in the mukansa list of swordsmiths: https://sword-auction.com/en/product/25761/as24223-薙刀:肥前国吉廣無監査刀匠/ https://www.nipponto.co.jp/swords9/KT338937.htm Are both these websites confusing him with Seto Yoshihiro? This Hizen Yoshihiro has a rather childish way of carving his mei, whereas Seto Yoshihiro has a much more refined looking mei. Quote
eternal_newbie Posted June 6 Report Posted June 6 Quote Are both these websites confusing him with Seto Yoshihiro? https://www.aoijapan.net/katana-chikuzen-ju-yoshihiro-saku-mukansa-swordsmith/ has the same biography as the Hizen Yoshihiro in your links, so unless it's an earlier signature from his career that would seem to be the case. In any case, the naginata definitely can't be him because the date is the same year he was born! 1 Quote
