Amon Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Hello members! Any kind of help with this blade is much appriciated! It's a mumei wakizashi that I have been trying to figure out what kind of school/smith who might have done it for a long time now. Am I totally wrong when I'm guessing it might be an shinto echizen blade? Here are som measurements: nagasa 45cm sori 1.1 cm motokasane 0.7cm. sakikasane 0.5cm motohaba 3.0cm sakihaba 2.0cm Thanks in advance! Quote
Amon Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Some more pictures of the blade. Once again, thanks in advance. Best regards, John Amon Quote
Amon Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Hi Gunther and thanks. I enjoy it much, it's a nice and healthy blade Quote
Jacques Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Hi, are the yasuri higaki? if yes it's not an Echizen blade, maybe Naminohira. Quote
Amon Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Hi Jacques! It looks like the yasuri has higaki form. So there's a possiblilty that it is a Naminohira sword? Quote
Jacques Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Hi, In Shinto time higaki yasurime were very rare and could be found only in Satsuma. Quote
Amon Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 Thanks Jacques! And if not Satsuma could it be a sue Naminohira? Quote
Jacques Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Hi, Naminohira school is located in Satsuma province :D Quote
Amon Posted March 25, 2009 Author Report Posted March 25, 2009 out and riding that bicycle again  Thanks Jacques, this will certainly narrow my search Quote
Amon Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 Hi members! A little more help is appriciated. I have only found that Aoki Motonaga used higaki on his nakagos but does anyone have any more suggestions to look for. thanks in advance! Regards Quote
Jacques Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Hi, Naminohira smiths like Yasuyo, Yasuyuki, Yasutsune, Yasuchika, TadaKiyo, Kiyomasa, Masamori, Masatsuna, Masatsune....and others. Quote
Amon Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 Thanks Jacques, your help is much appriciated. Since many of these smiths looks to be Ko-Naminohira smiths do you think that it is a possibility that the sword might be older then shinto? Regards, Quote
Jacques Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Hi, I'd quoted Shinto smiths only. :D Quote
