Jacques Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Hi, It is a very serious flaw. About this blade it is the first heian blade i see with such a kissaki. Quote
shan Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 I am with Jacques on this one, its sugata is not right and there is nothing there to indicate Heian period,no gracefulness, fumbari .....Nothing. I very much doubt that the blade would take another polish and not get worse in that area and it would worry me immensly with openings like that for that sum.I saw it and dismissed it in the first 20 seconds. The seller is optimistic about date and value as he is in most of the things he is saying and selling IMHO.This is just a gut feeling mind you as i know little or nothing about this sort of thing. I think Jacques has a heian period blade or two so i would trust his opinion. Kindest regards shan. Quote
Mike Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 Hello All, I agre that the sugata is not what you would expect from Heian period tachi, the kissaki is too long as well. I think that that the hi should have been deeper on the nakago if thw sword is realy o-o-suriage as the seller says, nodachi could have 90 cm blade and up, do IMHO it might be older sword but not Heian.
