richardj Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 good morning all, on the weekend just passed went to an auction for a deceased sale, i contacted the auctioneeer through the preceeding week and he described he had some nice tsuba and nice swords, and it would be wise to come for a look. on arrival made myself known to the auctioneer and he shows me two tsuba for tanto's and tells me that the family arrived late the following afternoon and removed a third of all the goods posted for auction including the nihonto goods to use as home protection to keep under the bed. in all they removed three katana's and two tanto's. the auctioneer was devasted as he had advertised the items and the way they ran their hands along the blades and just dumped them roughly into there boots. made him cry. so in short some people have know idea what they have and take no notice when told what they have in there posession and to treat said items with respect. just an interesting story have read similar stories but now experienced first hand. p.s. the tsuba went higher then i could afford Quote
