md02geist Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Thoughts? Perhaps Kanefusa Midare? I'm having a hard time placing this one as it's a fairly mixed hamon. The length also makes me think it could be either wakizashi or o-tanto. Talked to a few people about speculation on jidai and gotten very mixed replies. All input welcome. Quote
md02geist Posted January 6, 2017 Author Report Posted January 6, 2017 Also please forgive some of my really mediocre pictures. I have no professional camera or setup to display them better and I'm rather new at this. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted January 7, 2017 Report Posted January 7, 2017 I really like the hamon, Rob, & would probably call it gunome-midare, with a lot of tobiyaki. I have a wakizashi that looks a lot like yours. Hacho is 34 cm, which makes it technically a wakizashi, but you might get away with calling it an o-tanto. Nice blade! Ken Quote
Geraint Posted January 7, 2017 Report Posted January 7, 2017 Dear Rob. I agree with Ken, a nice thing. As a matter of interest what is the kasane and what happens to the kasane at or about the machi? All the best. Quote

Sadly I have no calipers to measure with just yet but I will attempt to approximate for you tomorrow. Quote
