xcivicdx Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 Japanese World War II Army Colonel Officer's sword is in beautiful condition, pictures show with tassle, the tassle will not be included. The nakago/tang is signed with two characters, Tadaaki. The kashira has a fine gold-gilt sarute. The blade measures 25 1/16"/63.7 cm (as measured properly with a tape pulled tight from the blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki). All fittings have matching assembly numbers '22'. This fine sword has a pierced tsuba. This sword has a wavy hamon/temper line with an interesting distinquishing feature of an ashi on both sides of the blade 3 1/8" back from the blade tip. Perhaps this is a trademark feature of Tadaaki's blades. The blade is perfectly straight. There are absolutely no blade nicks. The hamon is perfectly healthy. The boshi is perfectly healthy as well. Not sure if it matters, when I purchasd this I was told "this is from a smith with a cutting rating from the 1941 Exhibition of Saijo/best." I have done nothing with this sword, it has been on my rack stored in the right temperature, everything about it is great, im trying to purchase another sword.
