Soshin Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 Hi Everyone, I had a general question about the NBTHK shinsa. When someone submits a unpapered tosogu or nihonto will it just be considered for just hozon or both hozon and tokubetsu hozon? If not is tokubetsu hozon a separate shinsa already requiring a hozon paper? This question came to me as the NBTHK website it a bit vague just stating the fee is more for a tokubetsu hozon paper. I have a tsuba never discussed on NMB that will be submitted to the tosogu shinsa in Feburary. I hope to post something about it after the shinsa. Thanks in advance to answering my question. nagamaki - Franco Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 From past experience it is best to write out as well as verbally give explicit instructions as to what you want beginning with Hozon, and then if the piece passes, stop, or to please send it on for Tokubetsu Hozon. If you say nothing, it has been my experience they will continue to put it through if it is good enough, as well as gladly charge you for Tokubetsu Hozon. But, I haven't sent anything in recent times, so you may wish to hear from those that have. Quote
cabowen Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 When the submission paperwork is completed at the NBTHK, there are options to circle: just hozon, just tokubetsu hozon (must already have hozon and you must write in the number), or hozon then (if it passes hozon), further submission for th. Soshin Posted January 21, 2013 Author Report Posted January 21, 2013 Hi Chris B. and Franco, Thanks for the replies and the additional helpful information. I will be talking to my broker today to make sure he submit my tsuba only to the Hozon shinsa level. Yours truly, David Stiles Quote
