There is a piece for sale on eBay that has characteristics that I have never seen before.

The top two pic's in this montage show what look like blisters.

Is this an example of umegane(Inlaid Steel) or is the blade "tired".

now i'm a newbie but i think that is made on purpose by the smith.

 

i was shown a blade once that had spots above the hamon.. really a beautiful thing in my opinion.
