usfpaul82 Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Hello All, I am searching for a "entry" level nihonto and came across this on ebay which I am considering purchasing. I would just like to know if you all agree with the sellers description. I cannot find alot of info on the maker during that time period. I assume this is traditionally made right? http://www.ebay.com/itm/230845529651?ss ... 500wt_1220 Thanks. Quote
cabowen Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 based on the rather crude workmanship in the nakago, the poorly done mei, and the reputation of seki work, it is most likely a showa-to used for iai. Quote
Brian Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 JIDAI: THIS SMITH WORKED IN THE SHOWA PERIOD AROUND 1866........THIS SHOWA MAKE BLADE WOULD ADD PRECEDENCE TO ANY COLLECTION FOR THIS TIME PERIOD. That is quite remarkable considering the Showa period only started in 1926 :? Brian Quote
