  1. Hello everyone, I’m looking for help with identification and translation of a Japanese katana recently dismounted for examination. Details: Blade appears traditionally forged with visible hada Single mekugi-ana Unsigned tang (mumei) with good patina and visible yasurime High-quality koshirae with matching fittings and narrative scenes Inscription is present on the blade above the habaki, not on the tang I have not cleaned or altered the blade or tang in any way. I’m hoping for assistance with: Translating the blade inscription General thoughts on period (Edo / Meiji?) Whether the inscription is likely original or added later Any guidance on how this type of blade is typically categorized Photos attached below: Full blade (both sides) Close-ups of blade inscription Tang (both sides) Koshirae details Thank you in advance for any insight. I appreciate the expertise here. Best regards,
