Thank you very much for the replies.. these are nice blades and I'm just pedantic when i see things that don't match. It comes with a matching koshirae daisho that is tokubetsu papered also.. though i can't figure out what it really say other than parts used. I'll post the papers when I'm home definitely maybe someone here knows what it says Edit hopefully the image is good enough

Good day everyone.. have a question regarding the swordsmith Takahashi Naganobu during the Edo period (circa 1830s-1860s) I have a pair of daishos by NAGANOBU (inscription) but is there anyway to know if they are from the same smith?? I've searched all over and I couldn't find a similar mei like I have.. sorry .. it is just OCD working in me. Only little titbit footnote was supposedly he never signed the same way twice ?? The papers Tokubetsu papers mention Takahashi Naganobu for the Katana, and Unshu ju Naganobu for the Wakizashi (as per the mei)Thanks for helping

This is a mumei .. but assumption would be its old because it does not have a deep sori but 1 thing I noticed for pre shinto period swords, the jihada is very promiment?? Or is it just me? I guess the thing that catches my eye for early swords are the beautiful damascus like patterns (ie the mokume hada ikame hada masame hada patterns) Thanks for any insights.. Richard

This one is unique in that it does not have your usual kissaki and the normal mune is triangular in the middle ie not flat (The book I have said its a swan neck design) I also cannot find prominent jihada .. just clean and nice .. I know I forgot to take the nakago lol .. but just looking at this is it possible to tell? If it was anywhere else .. I'd say it was made in china (LOL) .. but this is genuine nihonto

Thanks alot for all the information .. I thought it was sunagashi but it seems to be only this part .. This sword was identified as a late bizen circa late muromachi blade I'll have a look later in detail and grab more pictures .. but you could be right .. it was sent to be polished as the condition was not that nice before.

Can anyone tell me what is that wavy line close to the HA ? This is a Mumei late bizen katana.. Its a beautiful blade and I was trying to identify the blade with reference to a book I recently got (THANKS RAY!!!) and I found that weird wavy line..

Actually the Den Rai costs much more .. but I specifically gave a budget and the seller brought out 3 blades but found out the later price was much higher for the Den Rai, so he honoured my budget.. 2 said katanas and 1 more from even earlier Kamakura period mumei o suriage That was my initial dilemma and doubt .. why would a Mumei be more expensive than a named sword (thanks to everyone here I now know the difference) Sorry I do not have photos of the Koshirae but both blades come with koshirae and both look nice and fitting.
