    Hi Everyone, Picked up this piece recently. A bit neglected and incomplete. Still sold. Feels like early/mid edo at my guess?? Unfortunately it has lost all it polish. Hada and hamon there behind all the scratches. Looking for help with the translation please.

    Hi everyone, I was hoping someone could translate this for me. 98% Sure its showato and not older. Blade does not appear to be folded, only clay tempered. Original polish is pretty much totally gone. Looks like five characters right? I think the first is "Ishi"? Any help is much appreciated.

    My 2 cents, when I look at the mekugi-ana i can see it has not been drilled by machine. Indicating olden hand tools, possible multiple attempts or re drilling.

    Dee, no its fine. I have definitely heard of gemei. I was trying to make my overly complicated thread a bit clearer. I must admit I did get a bit excited reading up on those smiths though XD

    Some further pics on "C - Taikei Naotane". Is this Nashiji-Hada?, its so fine im not sure if its even there... The overall polish feels a bit amateurish to me. Some superficial grindlines. The kissaki polish is a bit rough. I took photos to emphasis this but still. - I think its a re-polish... Any idea anyone?
