After reading several guides and forums on the topic, I decided I will go for preservation over “restoration”. I’ll keep the YouTube style “restoration” efforts to my lawnmower blade and my ax from Home Depot. Thank you all for preventing a tragedy against a historical art piece today.

Hi all, I recently inherited a Japanese sword that my grandfather brought home with him from WW2. It is in alright shape and I am hoping to refurbish it. I removed the handle to start the process of cleaning it up and I was hoping to get some help translating. Essentially the only kanji I know is “made” at the bottom. Thanks in advance for any help.
