  1. Is there any way to date this sword blade? determine the maker? Connect it to the owner? Dose my research end here? THANKS
  2. Heres a few more pics. Is there anyway to date the blade? Its unsigned, and i think by the way the rust looks it was made around the turn of the century {1800's/1900 } . Again im no expert and this is my first handmade blade, but i think the rust would be darker and more prevalent if it was 100's of years old. You guys tell me.

    Heirloom.

I have the Admirals sword here with me in TN........ Just kidding, my sword says Fujita on the tsuba. I have no history to my sword other than it was found in the closet of a house that had sat empty for several years. On the reverse of the tsuba is scratched "USM". I assume it stands for United States Marines. Im no sword expert but id have it restored if i was sure of the story. Id have mine restored is i wasnt broke. Maybe ill take the polisher to it............ KIDDING!
  4. Hey thanks! The Iwase name came from a guy at the Canadian sword collector site. Can he be also correct?
  5. Can anyone tell me what this kanji says? I believe it is the name of the owner of this naval sword i have recently aquierd. Also i have been told the mon is for the Iwase family. I not a sword expert but i do collect military weapons. Thanks to all. MSK
