I’m thinking about trying something but before I do I thought I would run it by everyone.

My intent is to get a clear (clearer) shot of the markings on the tang. My idea is to use white chalk to rub over the tang and wipe off with dry paper towel. This should not do anything to the rust but should leave white Chalk in the grooves. After taking the pictures I would then use a soft toothbrush, again dry, to brush the chalk out of the grooves ( again this should not remove any rust — right??).
