  1. I’m thinking of buying another WW2 Japanese Army Officer Samurai Sword.  I asked the dealer if he could tell me the characters on the tang…he couldn’t, so I’m back to my favorite forum.  Can you tell me the information on both sides of the tang…thanks

      The inscription is the maker's name: 菊秀 (Kikuhide)

      Thanks Steve M for the information on the maker.  The stream has lots of good information and the additional photos of the blade and sword is of great benefit.  I’m hoping someone will be able to read the second photo which will probably be the date it was made.
