    If I posted this in the wrong topic, please let me know. Any help regarding how to determine fake signatures on minatos or yasukunitos or gassans would be much appreciated. Was hoping this was the place to be for nihonto questions....

    thanks for the replies. I've been wondering about the prices too. probably due to the fact that Japan has been in the news, a strong euro, a weak dollar, and maybe b/c of tax returns here in the US. There was also a nice set of unusual fittings (manchurian railway) with no blade that sold for what I thought was an interesting price, but I kinda figured it would due to recent and weird prices of the dirks and machine made blades recently...

    so trying to get better with judging signatures. is this mina-to signature good or gimei? versus the known sample: The gawa and han (esp the han) are really different. Could this have been done by one of the students studying under masataka? Anyone have other masataka mei's? Thanks in advance! :D

    I've only recently been doing more reading of this board...i'm guessing the idea of acid washing was discussed in an older thread? Its new to me, so I guess I'll be hitting the search function to read up more on this....

    I know the fittings are interesting, but is there something to the blade? Its mumei but I thought it was gunto vs gendaito...does the little interruption in the suguha hamon at the end signify gendaito?
