Anyhow if this topic is still open once I get home from Uni I'll take some pics of the tang, if you all would be kind enough to help me translate anything on it to figure out just what they were trying to Fake!

Is this better for the sig? And Oh well, I'll be sure to tell him! still would make a nice wall hanger I think! and it's not inlay at all, but like paint almost, you can see the grain pattern under it. Also how do they get them so old looking?

Oh Cool! I thought as much? is it chinese then? what marks it as being poor quality? Bar it's age, he found it in an antique shop like that, I was also wondering what is says in the gold paint? Is what it looks like
