  1. Show tables close to being sold out. Crazy amount of communications going on for information. Should be busy..
  2. I wonder how to find a brand that is (neutral?). Thanks big feller..
  3. Room rate is $129.00. I did not lock as many as 2019 since I was not sure how many would show up this year. Call them soon! We will have hand sanitizer, gloves and masks for those who want them.
  4. Show is a go. Almost all the tables are sold. We have several new vendors I don't know as well as some heavy hitters attending for the first time. Exhibitions/lectures include Ken Clark (koshirae exhibit). Mark Ceskavich will show iron tsuba. Bill Miller always bring something very unusual to show and talk about. He has brought some items I've never even heard of! Demos include Tony Smith doing Iai he learns several times a year traveling to Japan. His demo was so successful last year we had to move it for more floor space plus the question/answer period was powerful. Very graceful and focused. Possibly Pete Campbell will cut bamboo. Our dojo, Orlando Toyama Ryu Batto Jutsu will cut goza. Still waiting to hear from Mike Yamasaki and Joe Forcine if they are attending. They do great lectures!

    Tsuba Poem

A katana sized tsuba I've had for years. My rich cousin Markus Sessko translTsubaPoem(1).pdfated it. Check it out.
  6. Well knock me down with a feather! Finally got back on. This is the most difficult site to get too. If I can get back here tomorrow I will post photos of the rest of the matchlock. Meanwhile, thank you very very much Bugyotsugi! Wow that was great info.
  7. Can anyone tell me this signature? Thanks. Bob Elder
  8. Thanks also to Mike Yamasaki who has been pushing me for a few years.....
  9. Thanks so much to those who attended the show. It was a great success! The vendors are all friendly and willing to share information. Thanks to the lecturers, Mike Yamasaki, Mark Seskavich, Bobby Block and Markus Sessko. Their talks were really well received . I think when you can gain information (for free) from someone who has studied years and spent millions of dollars to gain their knowledge, it is a tremendous blessing. We had many new people attending who found us online. First time I can recall that happening. The background whispering is for us to host a shinsa, maybe 2019. Thanks especially to Bill Miller and Arnold Frenzel who have been and are pushing for a better show and more excellence! Thanks again sincerely to all involved. Bob Elder
  10. Swords brought for display; Kamakura tachi "Masa Hiro" with cutting test. Nobu Taka waki, Gimbei Suke Sada with gold inlay, Shinto katana Tomo Tsune. Also first generation Tada HIro. Lectures on Owari swordsmiths and history by Bobby Block. I attended this talk at Chicago and it was really great. Informational with a touch that made it easy to learn. Mike Yamasaki will do 2 lectures, one Friday afternoon and Saturday at 11:00 am . Markus Sessko will also talk about his books. Mark Ceskavich will display and talk about Akasaka tsuba. See www.japaneseswordshow.com/orlando for further details. Thank you. Bob Elder
  11. Thank you. I owe that idea to Pat Giaccobe. We have lectures by Mike Yamasaki, Markus Sesko and Bobby Block. Bill Miller is bringing a (scarce) Seki tanegashima. Ken Clark will be displaying an incredible collection of Jutte. He had these at our show a few years ago and I never knew there was such a variety of them. Really cool. Keith Hostler is bringing 4 top blades from a serious collector in Fla.
  12. For those of you who are preregistered for a table please send me 2 or 3 items of interest you are bringing for sell or display. We are listing them on the web site. This will generate interest both for the site and for you. Thanks. Bob Elder
  13. Make sure you get your room reservations soon. Cost now is $105.00 but will jump to $129.00! Thanks . Bob. Will be at the Chicago Sword Show to promote the Orlando show.
  14. Well that's me with the matchlock. Frank Tipton next to me, then Mark Wahlberg, Bill Miller and Paul (?), sorry I forgot forgot his last name. There were so many swords and so much packing material it ran out into the hall and they couldn't close the door.

This year we are at the same site, Doubletree By Hilton, 2 traffic lights from the Orlando International airport. Info to follow. Meantime, any inquiries please email me at; toyama1_2000@yahoo.com.There are many fine restaurants in this area. Thank you for your time. Bob Elder
  18. Just got word from Joe Forcine that he will bring 6 Juyo Token for exhibition. He will also lecture about the changes in shape of NIhonto based on changes in warfare. Will be a priceless educational talk!
  19. Orlando Sword Show. I would also like to have other countries sword exhibitions. If anyone knows Chinese collectors, please invite them. Also enjoy having Asian Antiques at the show. We all enjoy these.
  20. A partial line up of lectures/demonstrations; Bill Miller, Satsuma swords. Markus Sesko, content to be announced, Moses Bacera, polishing, Wally Hostetter, lacquer techniques, Joe Forcine, to be decided, Mike Yamasaki, kantei lecture as well as hands-on kantei session, Pat Giaccobe, how to do oshigata. We have a few hopefuls in the pipeline but these are some powerful and priceless ways to gain knowledge. Our web site is being updated now so will reflect information as it becomes available.
  21. In case anyone is in the central Florida area (weekend of) June 17th, 2016, I am hosting our 4th annual Japanese Sword Show. We are in a bigger better hotel only 1 red light from the last one. That is within a mile of the Orlando International Airport. Tons of great restaurants in the immediate area. See www.orlandojapaneseswordshow.com. In the interest of continuing to bring educational lectures and exhibitions, we are proud to host Joe Forcine, Markus Sesko and Moses Bacera. Other notables are in the pipeline to share their knowledge. With the treasure hunt over in terms of Japanese sword sales, it is very important that we continue to have seasoned collector/dealers pass on their (sometimes) decades of knowledge. Rarely do we see the amount of collectibles as we did 15 or more years ago. So , if anyone has any questions, please contact Bob Elder at toyamabob@gmail.com. We also are staring a Facebook site.Thank you all for your time.
