  1. Hi everyone, Hope you are all well and have acquired some beautiful swords already in 2013! My 10 year old son has taken up karate, and has been doing so for past 1-2 years. He's at his orange belt and progressing quite well! :D His dojo is a small one, just started up within past 3 years. I just helped move them to a better facility/space. I wanted to give his sempai a "gift" sort of like a house warming gift for the new dojo. I feel the dojo could use some decorating, was thinking along the lines of the obvious things such as woodblock prints. Was curious if anyone has any donation level items (armour pieces, dead blades, Japanese related decorative pieces), basically looking for odds and ends that of course would be of interest for those visiting the dojo, to see on display. I am in Canada and of course would cover shipping cost, if you had anything collecting dust that could be donated. Any suggestions or possible donations would be of course greatly appreciated! Please contact me in reply here or email at tim@dealingtime.com Thanks in advance! Tim Marshall
  2. Thank you Gentlemen! Tim
  3. Hi all, Wondering if I could get a translation on this. Much appreciated! Tim
  4. Looks legit to me, but definitely something used on blade that maybe should not have been. The hamon and blade shape appears much more accurate than the Chinese fakes. Tim
  5. Hi Hank, beautiful piece! Would like to see the others you have too! As for who it was made for, most likely (due to its age) it is probably a family piece, probably passed through some generations. (just my opinion) Tim
  6. My thoughts were that it is a shortened katana/wak as well, most likely done in the field during battle (assuming WW2), as the wrapping on the handle would point to a field customization. Tim
  7. Hi all, I still highly follow Japanese swords, but am a poor man with an addiction to Japanese swords, so I can only admire via pictures posted. I had started a more affordable collection, now an addiction. I collect vintage wrist watches now. I just had a thought, alot of you I imagine will tend to search antique shops etc... for swords. If you could do me a favour and notify me if you come across anything interesting for cheap. Where I live, I have yet to come across anything Nihonto related in antique shops. I should start hitting estate auctions/sales I think, but they always have those occur during working hours. Tim

    Mei help, please

Diamond in the rough? Looks like a nice blade, but pretty tired in its current state. The openings in the steel, I guess those would affect value at all? Tim
  9. Hi all, been some time since I've posted. I had an account at the old forum location. I don't own any swords anymore, but the interest is still there. The horimono reminds me of my friend's sword, who I have yet to convince him to part with it. :D Tim
