  1. IN MR. SLOUGHS GENDAI BOOK SOME OF THE OSHIGATA HAVE THE MEI LISTED AS SHOSHIN MEI, I ASSUME THAT IS THE SMITHS ACTUAL HAND. THERE IS ANOTHER TERM, I'M SORRY I DON'T HAVE THE BOOK IN FRONT OF ME, I'VE BEEN TOLD THE OTHER TERM MEANS IT WAS SIGNED BY A PROFFESIONAL SIGNER. IS THAT TRUE, AND IF IT IS HOW CAN WE DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN DIFFERENT STYLE MEI BY THE SAME SMITH, DON W
  2. Sorry Steve, still searching for info, but check my posting on the nihonto board, hoping for someone to help me here. Later don w
  3. If anyone has info/examples of a Tosa shinto smith, Toshu ju Kunimasu I would really appreciate it. Thank you, don w
  4. Last year around June jacobite/David R posted about his Noshu ju Kanetoshi gendaito, I've just joined NMB and would like to share any thoughts or info on this Seki smith. I already posted some thoughts on the Nihonto discussion board. Thanks, don w
  5. I have a gendaito by Kumazawa Kanetoshi, and a while back I read a post by jacobite/david r with pics of his Kanetoshi, mine has a nearly identical hamon but also has bohi and kanji on blade (Kami wa ai nari, chikara nari, kami tomo ni zasu) translates to "God is love, god is power, God is with me". David R refered to some possible connection to Fukumoto Kanemune. Is there any thing more to this? Also I've noticed on every sword I personally have veiwed if the sword is signed" Noshu ju Kanetoshi tsukuru kore" the yasurimei is takanoha (points up if that makes sense) and any swords signed"Kumazawa Kanetoshi" the yasurimei are inverted (points down) and they have Seki or Showa stamps etc. I'm new to this site, so any help will be appreciated. Thanks, don w
